Cotton & Blends — the wholesale buyer’s fabric guide

The everyday-luxury grounds: mercerised cotton with its quiet lustre, and cotton-silk blends that split the difference between breathability and sheen — engineered for kurtis and sets that work five days a week, then reorder.

What these grounds are

The everyday-luxury family is built on mercerised cotton and cotton-silk blends. Mercerisation — a controlled caustic-soda bath under tension — gives combed cotton a soft lustre, stronger yarn and better dye uptake: a cotton that looks tailored and keeps its colour through wash cycles.

Cotton-silk blends split the difference between the two fibres: cotton's breathability and easy care with silk's sheen and fall. On the shelf that reads as a kurti or set that is comfortable enough for a workday and dressy enough for an evening.

Prints live here. Block prints and printed motifs read best on cotton grounds — our printed kurti line runs on cotton and cotton-crepe grounds, where the print sits crisp and the cloth keeps its shape through wear cycles.

Drape and hand-feel

Matte, tailored and quiet — mercerised cotton has lustre without shine, so the garment photographs honest and wears that way too.

The blend grounds add a soft fall that pure cotton lacks: a cotton-silk kurti drapes closer to occasion wear while still laundering like a daily. Structured-casual is the honest one-line description.

Breathability is the whole point of the family — these are the pieces your customer reaches for on the fifth consecutive workday, which is exactly why they reorder.

Care — what to tell your customers

Plain grounds take a cold, gentle machine wash; embroidered pieces should be dry cleaned. A medium iron finishes both.

Because mercerised yarn holds dye better, the colour survives the wash cycles that daily pieces actually get — say so at the counter, it closes the sale.

Buying cotton grounds in bulk

Daily wear earns daily reorders — the practical behaviour of cotton grounds in a wholesale programme:

Swatch cuts of the current cotton grounds ship with the first quotation — mercerised lustre is easier to judge in hand than on screen.

The three questions buyers ask about cotton & blends

Plain answers — the full trade FAQ is on the FAQ page.

What is the minimum order for a cotton-ground line?

24 pieces to start — 3 colours × 2 sets, each set one size run of L, XL, XXL and 3XL, applied per line. Daily-wear lines are the fastest to replenish, and production lots run 120 pieces per design per colour.

Will the pieces shrink after the first wash?

The grounds are pre-shrunk before cutting, and the size chart is graded to the house chart after pre-shrinking — the fit your customer tries on is the fit the piece keeps.

Do printed and plain lines really run in one programme?

Yes — both run on the cotton ground family, so a single quotation can carry block-printed kurtis alongside solid embroidered sets. Colourways are matched to the same shade bank, which keeps a mixed shelf coherent.
